On Tuesday, 12 december 2023, the Institute for War & Peace Reporting (IWPR) in Moldova hosted Mantis Analytics at Vispas Hotel, str. Alexandru Lapușneanu 26, Chișinău. The workshop with Mantis was focused on theory for info-space monitoring and practice with AI tools and capabilities available. Download the agenda of the activity here >>
In the first part of the workshop, Anton Tarasyuk, Expertise Lead and Maksym Tereschenko, CEO of Mantis presented the analytic capabilities of their new AI-driven platform that conduct info-space listening in real time. Mantis system can provide organizations with reliable and actionable data for physical and informational risk management. Today Mantis provide support for the National Security and Defence Council of Ukraine, Kyiv Digital, Vox Check, Detector Media and western country's embassys. Mainly, Mantis provide research, briefings, API and platform services for it's partners.

Anton Tarasyuk explained the information warfare pipeline — information field analysis, countering strategy development, preventing actions and resistance measures. All this deployed on a restricted time line, ranging from 1 hour to 1 day — this is the active time when some have to react to an anemy's overal campaign. Before it can cause harm or even take lives.

At the research level, in the field analysis process, the systems can do scanning for a topic and perform a deep historical analytic task for at least 2000+ content pieces in 3 cluesters of information (news, authorities, public services). At this stage the AI system can extract at least 10 strategic naratives from the target data.

The Mantis Briefings product can sent rapid alerts and updates to quickly act upon. In weekly briefings the AI system can analyse 5000+ pieces on content and extract at least 5 hostile campaigns. There could be also targeted monitored campaigns in API services producs, when the system analyses 1000+ content pieces a day in 3 clusters of information. The Mantis Platform product is capable of showing historical trends and narratives analysis, can contribute to operational awareness and risk management.

In the second part of the workshop, the invited participants had the opportunity to experiment with working AI tools available. Each team had it's own research topic into the massive of data sellection and had to sort out the top 5 desinformation narratives for their asigned region. The final results refined with the AI prompts where presented and disscused among the participants. Essentially, it was an exciting exercise in statistically searching for Russian disinformation narratives in open data sets (OSINT). What was particularly interesting at this activity was the participants' use of the main AI tools available by their own skills (experential potential exploration).
Mantis Analytics is an AI-driven real-time information field monitoring platform that collects information from media, social networks and other sources. Mantis Analytics empowers governments, organizations, and individuals with AI technologies to detect, defend, manage risks and counteract against information warfare.
